Back from the “Roof of the World”

This expedition was an important corner stone of the project High and Dry - Quaternary climates, palaeoenvironments and human prehistory of the Tibetan plateau, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). The team composed of Jan-Hendrik May (University of Freiburg), Luke Gliganic and Michael Meyer (our research group) targeted a series of geoarchaeological sites in southern (Tingri), far western (Tirthapuri) and central (Siling Co) Tibet. Spectacular landscapes and fascinating science as well as a lot of dust, wind and sun were constant companions on this high-altitude journey.
