Cave research in northern Ural

The 2017 field work targeted the western slope of the northern Ural with the main aim of finding speleothems that would allow dating permafrost-free conditions. Accompanied by Olga Kadebskaya, Pavel Kosintsev and Vladimir Shirokov (Russian Academy of Sciences) Yuri Dublyansky examined five caves on their trip to the Pechora-Ilych Nature Reserve (62°34′N, 58°15′E). The trip involved 3000 km of driving, 300 km of travel on the Pechora and Unia rivers using small motor boats, and 100 km or rafting in inflatable boats.
