Equipped with improved drilling gear we extended existing boreholes down to the base of this very thick layered speleothem deposit which covers the floor of this cave. This core material is one key aspect of a new research project funded by the Autonomous Province of Bozen-Südtirol aiming at exploring the regional palaeoclimate record of these cave sediments.
