Celebrating 50 years FWF

One of the key topics chosen by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) for its 50th anniversary was glacier and mountain research and Christoph Spötl was invited to curate this part of the exhibition. He was joined by Wolfgang Gurgiser (Research Focus Alpine Space – Man and Environment, University of Innsbruck) and a small group of activists: Gabriella Koltai and Tim Philipp (our group), Kristin Richter, Anna Wirbel and Matthias Dusch (Department of Atmospheric and Cryospheric Sciences). The festival lasted from September 8-12 and was held at the Maria-Theresien-Platz in Vienna. Our pop-up pavillon was visited by many people including numerous school kids. It was a lot of work, but also a unique opportunity to reach out to the public at a great venue blessed by perfect late-summer weather.
This would not have been possible without the professional help by Kurt Nicolussi (Department of Geography), Alexander Jarosch and Tobias Sauter (Department of Atmospheric and Cryospheric Sciences) as well as Silvia Dallabrida and Marc Seumenicht (FWF).
Many thanks to all involved in this work - it was definitely worth the effort.
