Field work Iran

We recently launched a joint project between the Department of Geology of Isfahan University and our group to study caves and speleothems in southern Iran, in collaboration with colleagues from Oxford University. Supported by local cavers we visited five caves in the Fars and Kohgiluye-and-Boyer Ahmad Provinces and took a number of samples, focussing of small-diameter drill cores and broken material. Christoph Spötl also gave an invited lecture at Isfahan University.

The trip was highly successful and the collected material will be analysed by Mojgan Soleimani as part of her PhD thesis, co-supervised by Dr. Stacy Carolin and Prof. Alireza Nadimi.
