IWIC-IX meeting in Slovakia

Delayed by two years, this week-long meeting finally took place between the 8th and 13th of May 2022, opening with a visit to the Demänová valley (Low Tatras) and its multiple caves, as well as a mid-week excursion to low-elevation ice caves of the Slovak Karst.

Christoph Spötl, Gabriella Koltai and PhD students Maria Wind and Tanguy Racine presented new results to the members ice cave research community. Warmly hosted by the staff of the Slovak Museum of Nature Protection and Speleology, they were able to engage in oral and poster presentations on topics ranging from ice-flow modelling, analyses of cave temperature monitoring data, to the dating of past cave glaciations.

The next workshop (IWIC-X) will take place in Austria, in two-years' time.
