The main target was cave Mirichun in the Eastern Sayan Mountains. This recently discovered (2019), 139 m-deep cave hosts abundant cryogenic cave carbonates (CCC) as well as stalagmites. The cave is presently in conditions close to permafrost (0.6 °C).
Additional samples of late Holocene CCC were collected in Bolshaya Baydinskaya cave, and a drill core was obtained from a large stalagmite in Mechta cave located on the NW shore of Baikal Lake.
This work was conducted in collaboration with A. Filippov (Canada) and the Irkutsk Speleological Club (Russia).
