Field work in the Uinta Mountains

Gabriella Koltai visited Jeff Munroe in the Uinta Mountains (Utah) to collect clastic cave sediments for cosmogenic burial age dating. Together with local Forest Service geologist David Herron and the team visited several caves at different elevations during an 11-day field campaign. The goal is to constrain rates of river incision and landcape evolution of the Uintas by determining when these fluvial sediments were washed into the caves.

Support for this work was provided by the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the National Cave and Karst Reserach Institute.
