Fieldwork in Nevada

The fieldwork focused on shorelines remaining from Lake Waring, a pluvial lake that covered more than 1100 km² during the last glacial cycle, but has completely disappeared since then.  Joined by two colleagues from the US, they conducted detailed reconnaissance to identify the beach ridges, mapped them using an RTK-enabled drone, collected >800 m of GPR surveys, and sampled a dozen shorelines and dunes for dating with luminescence and ¹⁴C.  The overall goal is to better understand the timing of hydroclimate transitions in this region during the transition from the Pleistocene to the Holocene.
