Not only has the Kaisertal been repeatedly voted one of the most beautiful places in Austria, it also hosts one of the most famous caves in Tyrol - the Tischofer Cave. This rock shelter contains a sediment archive several metres thick, dating from the Holocene to the end of the Pleistocene and also containing traces of Stone Age human settlements. We use Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating to constrain the burial history of the cave-mouth sediment succession of the Tischofer Cave, in collaboration with the excavation team from the Department of Archaeologies of the University Innsbruck.
