Deep ice cave in the Dolomites

The expedition was led by Francesco Sauro (La Venta Association) and focussed on a laserscan survey of this 289 m-deep cave which opened in 1994 when an ice-dammed lake at 2940 m altitude suddenly drained. We checked data logger monitoring the cave´s microclimate and took ice samples which are being examined for pollen by Klaus Oeggl and his group (Botany Institute).
