Fieldwork in western Austria

Previously sampled speleothems within this alpine cave close to 2000 m elevation exhibited high uranium contents, which enabled the production of unique, precisely-dated age chronologies. Of particular interest includes the age scale reconstruction covering Marine Isotope Stage 11, the longest and warmest interglacial interval of the last 500,000 years. As a result, Klaus Cramer cave has become of great interest to the team, in both previous and future projects.
