The team traveled to caves in southeast Alaska in search of speleothem samples that span the past 11,700 years, representing the most recent warm epoch on Earth. The caves are located on extremely remote islands in the North Pacific, and surrounded by a thick temperate rainforest. In fact, in some places in the region, up to 5 m of rain falls annually.
